Medical cannabis company Materia will ramp up operations after it achieved the EU’s standards benchmark.
Materia Malta Operating has been awarded with European Union Good Manufacturing Practices (EU GMP) certification from the Malta Medicines Authority.
The EU GMP standard for pharmaceutical production is a requirement across the continent for companies wanting to operate in the emerging sector.
Materia will now be able to ‘begin processing and exporting medical cannabis flower from Malta into end markets across Europe’.
The company has also announced it is in the process of obtaining a licence to begin working with cannabis extracts.
Materia is focusing on breaking into the European medical cannabis market with Germany identified as a key target.
