Clouds + (some) Silver Linings

This week, we look to both the clouds and the silver linings. And there was plenty of both.

Some clouds: 

Bad news from the FDA about CBD, two cannabis lifestyle magazines will soon be history as will two Canadian cannabis companies. 

Some silver linings: 

New products are coming online in Canada in a number of weeks, Shoppers Drug Mart is expanding their cannabis program and Canopy hired a pro CEO. \

The Clouds…

The US Food and Drug Administration has said that CBD may be harmful… repercussions abound, The Toronto Star took a look at some of them.

Zenabis European export plans were halted when they didn’t get their EUGMP approved. 

Wayland Group and AdMedica are on the ropes and filed for protection from creditors. The folks at the law firm Aird & Berlis took a look at what this means for the those companies

Health Canada has announced over 700 vape-type products have been submitted for approval… but Newfoundland & Labrador won’t carry them

From the cannabis media file… two lifestyle publications were dealt major blows this week: High Times may be shutting down and Civilized seized operations. (Also, important to note for those following along at home, Business of Cannabis was NOT acquired by Civilized.)

Not only are Israeli politics at a stand still pending a third election this year alone, but their medical cannabis program is similarly shaky – temporarily halted by court order

The Silver Linings…

Announced just this morning, Canopy hired their new CEO – David Klein – a Constellation exec. And not a moment too soon as that company launched their first CBD products into the US

Shoppers Drug Mart is going national – expanding their medical cannabis program beyond Ontario and Alberta – positioning themselves as an even bigger, national player in the sector

Ample Organics was chosen as the go-to tracker for all things cannabis in St. Vincent and the GrenadinesBarbados’ medical cannabis program appears to be moving forward

The Ontario Cannabis Store is gearing up for Legalization 2.0 products in that Province, but not until January 6th. Sorry folks…
