Conan O’Brien found a kind friend

It’s the final week of late night superstar (and Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast host) Conan O’Brien’s incredible 28-year run (before launching a new project with HBO Max), and to celebrate, he and beloved Vancouverite Seth Rogen shared a joint on Tuesday night’s show.

Getting to know the ‘fine herb’

After O’Brien confessed that he’s a little apprehensive about having time off once the show’s done, Rogen suggested his favourite activity as a possible way to bide the time: “Try smoking a lot of weed for a long time!”

O’Brien admitted that he never smokes, but he doesn’t have anything against the “fine herb” (which Rogen pointed out was obvious from his awkward terminology) — it just didn’t seem to do anything.

Houseplant’s perfect plug

“But you own a weed company,” O’Brien continued, referring to Rogen’s Houseplant cannabis brand. “You know me… what would you want me smoking?”

Without saying a word, Rogen reached into his shirt pocket and produced a joint. After some back-and-forth, he suggested O’Brien take a single puff — which he did, but not before nearly lighting the wrong end. He passed it back to Rogen, who also took a puff… and passed it to Andy Richter, who had a toke, too (which is legitimately heartwarming to watch if you also miss sharing a joint with pals). “I’m so happy with what just happened,” Rogen gushed.

‘Shocking and surreal’

While it seemed like the best possible celebrity endorsement for Houseplant, Rogen insisted that none of it was planned.

“I smoked weed with @ConanOBrien on his show and was legit terrified that I got him too high haha,” he tweeted. “This was a surreal and shocking moment for me and was genuinely unplanned.”
