WeedMD has made a strong name for itself over the past several years in the medical cannabis space. The Aylmer, Ontario-based licensed producer has carved out a key, forward-looking component of the sector as hyper-focused on medicinal cannabis with a strong patient-centric education component as well as compelling supply deals with long-term care and senior facilities. WeedMD’s Medical Director and Chair of their Clinical Advisory Board, Dr. Jonas Vanderzwan, joined Business of Cannabis for a Quick Hits conversation to talk about some of the work he is doing at WeedMD as well as some of the compelling research he is seeing from around the world that may have major impacts on Canadian patients’ lives in the future. The company also recently announced a merger with HIKU Brands – which is comprised of DOJA and Tokyo Smoke – putting the companies in a compelling space to service both the recreational and medical parts of the cannabis sector. For further background about WeedMD, see the Business of Cannabis interview with CEO Bruce Scully-Dawson from December 2017 and their Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Luc Duchesne from February 2018.
