As we begin to round out an historic 2018, the realities and growing pains of the fast-paced industry are showing.

Two big stories this week about LPs on the hot seat: first, and surprising few insiders, Agrima Botanicals lost their license from Health Canada and, secondRedeCan issued a recall because of mouldy cannabis. (Read Tantalus Labs Founder Dan Sutton’s Tweet on this subject.)

And not to be overlooked as the industry expands, Alberta Gaming Liquor and Cannabis announced last week that they only received 20 percent of the orders they placed from LPs…

And buyers aren’t that happy with the way things have gone – with the grumpiest consumers being in Ontario – according to an Ipsos poll.

Perhaps the most exciting thing for Canadian cannabis this week was a stellar piece by writer/reporter Amanda Siebert in The Paper of Record (no, not this one, the real one…): Canada’s Grand Cannabis Experiment Has Set Scientists Free

From south of the border, Massachusetts opened up their first few retail cannabis shops to long lines, some product shortages, but mostly just happy customers ready to celebrate (American) Thanksgiving.

While we’re in the US, Michael Moore thinks cannabis legalization could help sway votes in swing states in the next Presidential election.

University of New Brunswick made big canna-news this week by hiring their first Cannabis Health Research Chair.

And it isn’t just people that scientists are studying the beneficial effects of cannabis, but also bees. It seems hemp is good for bee populations. Sweet!
