The UK headshop that rose against the odds

    By

Premium UK-based headshop, Olivastu, has faced many challenges along its journey in the cannabis industry, but today it is firmly cemented in the UK with further sales across Europe and America.

Entrepreneurial endeavours are risky, and in the cannabis business, this can be even more so. There are many challenges that businesses in the industry have to face to reach success, from navigating the legal and regulatory landscape to advertising barriers and strong competition.

Founded in 2019, Olivastu has emerged as one of the premium online headshops selling CBD products and paraphernalia in the UK. But even after climbing the ladder of success, the company has said it has not forgotten what it was like in the beginning.

Director of Olivastu, Pritesh Vekaria, and managing director, Hitesh Halai, have pulled out all the stops to succeed in the face of struggle and risk – which they believe is a reward in itself.

“Understanding the confusing UK laws around cannabis was a task, but it was when we entered the industry that we could accurately interpret how to conduct business,” they stated.

Aside from legal confusions and the challenges posed by the highly competitive landscape in the industry – there were several other issues.

Marketing the business was a major sticking point. Olivastu was faced with social media posts for the business constantly being taking down, as well as marketing constraints for products.

Olivastu highlights that the payment gateway also posed a challenge, with many social media companies rarely allowing CBD products and other services that are provided by Olivastu.

Despite this, Olivastu is thriving thanks to its loyal customer support. The shop provides authentic, high-quality smoking accessories, attributing the reason for its success not just to pocket-friendly prices but also to the discretion with which it delivers the products.

The company provides free shipping in the UK to customers that make orders more than £30, and it has also begun shipping orders to the USA, France and Germany.
