Ohio’s Adult-Use Cannabis Market Hits $143m in Sales Since Launch

Ohio’s adult-use cannabis sales have now topped $140m since the retail market launched in earnest in August, according to the latest figures from Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of Cannabis Control.

Between the launch of the market on August 06 and November 02, ‘non-medical’ cannabis sales hit $143.4m, including 17,911 pounds of cannabis flower and 2,285,636 units of manufactured products.

Over the period, revenue growth has been consistent, seeing a steady increase between September and October following an initial surge in August.

By the end of September, total non-medical sales reached $87.1m, with sales of 10,213 pounds of flower and 1.36m units of manufactured products. October ended with $131.8m in cumulative sales, seeing an average of $47m per month.

Since the launch of Ohio’s adult-use cannabis, prices for both non-medical and medical cannabis have shown a gradual decline.

When adult-use sales began, recreational flower averaged $26.59 per 1/10 oz (about $9.40 per gram), while manufactured products like edibles and concentrates averaged $31.06 per unit.

By early November, these prices had decreased to $21.49 per 1/10 oz (around $7.59 per gram) for flower and $29.01 per unit for manufactured products. This downward trend likely reflects a response to strong initial demand and a gradually balancing supply chain.

Similarly, medical cannabis prices have followed a comparable pattern, showing incremental declines. Medical flower prices began at approximately $22.21 per 1/10 oz ($7.85 per gram) in August but had dropped to $21.71 per 1/10 oz ($7.67 per gram) by late October.

Manufactured products in the medical market have remained somewhat steadier, averaging around $29.46 per unit in August and moving to $29.21 per unit by November.

Ohio currently has 124 dispensaries licensed to sell both medical and recreational cannabis. Despite the widespread availability, more than 100 cities and townships have enacted moratoriums blocking the sale of recreational cannabis as of October 22. While some moratoriums will expire later this year or next, others remain indefinite.
