It Was the Best of Times, It Was the Worst of Times…

It was the best of times…

This week marks the one year anniversary of adult use recreational cannabis legalization in Canada.

Yesterday, Business of Cannabis co-founder published 8 teachable things that we’ve learned in the past year.

This week, the Business of Cannabis team will be recording a podcast series at the Canada 2020 “Canadian Grown” event tomorrow at Thursday. If you are in Toronto, it promises to be a great event.

And while we’re talking great events, the folks at Cannabis Europa will be dropping by Toronto in early November for Cannabis Europa: Transatlantic Forum. You can find out more here and buy tickets here

Tilray and InBev are going to try to tackle the CBD-beverage market. (This comes on the heels of Canopy buying up BioSteel earlier this month…)

48 North acquired Sackville & Co

Aurora released dissolving strips as a delivery method (to patients) this past week.

It was the worst of times…

As part of its ongoing troubles, CannTrust is destroying $77 million worth of cannabis and cannabis products.

HEXO downgraded its projections into 2020 last week, sending cannabis stocks into a spiral.

Aleafia is cancelling a supply agreement they had in place with Aphria claiming Aphria is not fulfilling (or filling) its obligations

But if that doesn’t get you down, this might.

And the rest…

An overwhelming majority of Canadians don’t believe cannabis is impacting their workplaces in a negative way.

There are super cannabis users who are using a majority of the cannabis – this according to new research suggesting that 10 percent of cannabis users consumer ⅔ of all cannabis

And in some weird news, your laugh of the week: a man found nuts (as in, nuts and bolts) in his cannabis container…

From Business of Cannabis

As you read last week, Business of Cannabis has produced two new podcasts. Check out the second episode of On A High with Marina Billinghurst from Art of Marina.

As well, check out our first episode of Pitch Forward – a podcast collaboration with Leaf Forward – the global launchpad for cannabis innovation. Episode 1 features Motif Labs.

Finally, Eric Foster of Dentons joined BofC Live to talk about how he believes innovation, not cultivation, will be Canada’s cannabis legacy.
