MIDTERM BALLOTS
Mixed results for midterm cannabis legalization measures
Five statewide adult-use cannabis legalization measures have gone before voters, reports Leafly.
The final results saw Maryland and Missouri pass amendments for cannabis legalization, however, in North and South Dakota and Arkansas, the measures failed.
To add to this, Los Angeles County will approve cannabis stores through LA County Measure C, which Leafly highlights could see up to 150 new cannabis business licenses, helping to decrease California’s retail bottleneck.
Texas has also seen four central cities decriminalize local cannabis possession up to 2 oz through Prop A, which prevents law enforcement from prosecuting Class A or Class B misdemeanor possession of cannabis offenses.

The stock include:

- Green Thumb Industries (GTBIF)
- Curaleaf Holdings (CURLF)
The publication highlights that, with results from a Gallup poll showing 16% of Americans smoked cannabis in the past week compared to 11% stating they smoked a tobacco

INDUSTRY IMPACT
The benefits of cannabis legalization in Canada
Canada legalized cannabis in 2018, and has seen a number of challenges for the industry since. However, there have also been many positive outcomes from this new law, writes Plants Before Pills.
The publication explores some of the ways cannabis has impacted the country since it became legal, including:
- Cannabis research
- Cannabis in the workplace
- Adult use cannabis
“It’s an exciting time for the industry and we will continue to see more research into the health benefits of marijuana as well as new products being developed by companies all over Canada,” writes the publication.
UK CBD
Validation anticipated for thousands of UK CBD products – as almost 100 products taken off public list
BusinessCann reports that thousands of CBD businesses are expecting to have their products validated over the coming weeks.
Both the Association for the Cannabinoid Industry (ACI) and the European Industrial Hemp Association (EIHA) have submitted their completed applications to UK and European authorities.
The publication highlights that the EIHA’s submission included details of its toxicology studies – recommending an acceptable daily intake for CBD isolate of 17.5mg per day, which is well below the current levels recommended by the UK FSA of 70mg per day.
However, the organization has said it expects the findings from its toxicology studies with full-spectrum CBD to recommend a higher ADI due to its ‘less concentrated formulation’ and ‘promising preliminary results’.
