Customers will now be able to use the Deliveroo app in more areas to order Love hemp CBD products from the UK company through a virtual storefront.
Deliveroo and Love Hemp have announced an expansion to their collaborative trial to deliver CBD products which started in January. The trial was originally only available in the Croydon area of South London but is now being extended to six new areas including Manchester.
Love Hemp’s production facility is located in Croydon. This is why they chose to start the trial there so its CBD products would be available within a six-kilometre radius.
Customers can select a full range of Love Hemp’s products through the virtual storefront on their app.
Love Hemp growth
Speaking with Cannabis Wealth, Love Hemp’s chief growth officer, Martin Healy said: “After months of excitement and planning we did get off to a rocky start, however after the first few days, the orders started to gain momentum. Without any marketing or promotion, we would say it was very successful.
Our marketing hub currently resides in one of the biggest cities in the UK. Manchester is a big part of our company and dear to our hearts. In addition to being densely populated and a great city, it would only make sense. Our Anthony Joshua campaign did really well in Manchester so our intention was to piggyback off that.”
There are already plans in place to expand beyond Manchester and London if the Love hemp and Deliveroo trial is successful.
Martin said: “We plan to expand to other London Boroughs, with going live into Shoreditch at the end of February. Without question, we plan to expand into major cities such as Leeds, Liverpool and Birmingham.
We feel like we need to offer some added focus on the 6/7 areas of London and in Manchester with some promotional activities and offers. Once we’re happy and have achieved our goals for these areas then the campaign will be extended. We feel it’s important not to push too quickly, too soon.”

Deliveroo delivery success
The CBD industry and delivery services have experienced a massive boom since the start of the pandemic in 2020. CBD sales rose while Deliveroo reported transaction volumes had increased on its app to £1.7bn in the second quarter of 2021.
It’s not the first time Deliveroo has sold products outside of food as alcohol, vaping products and tobacco are already available through the app. Although it is still advertised as a predominately food based service. The trial with Love Hemp has marked the first time the app will sell CBD products.
