It Was the Best of Times Edition

It was the best of times…

Last week, Cronos announced that tobacco giant was taking a major/controlling interest in their company. Lots to unpack with this one, but this was a big deal by any measure.

Also, Supreme Cannabis inked a deal with Wiz Khalifa.

it was the worst of times…

An Aphria short-seller released a report about the Leamington-based company – and the markets took care of the rest.

it was the age of wisdom…

With female co-CEOs, 48North and Good & Green continue to make major news – and not just with Business of Cannabis on the red carpet of the Canadian Cannabis Awards. Last week, they announced an equity investment, strategic partnership and supply deal with Canopy. (Also, likely the first, licensed outdoor grow in Canada.)

it was the age of foolishness…

Bongspiel is exactly what it sounds like. Only in Wiarton, Ontario.

it was the epoch of belief…

Ontario retail regulations continue to be released, causing this amazing exchange between two industry giants. (Also, if you aren’t already – follow Trina Fraser and Adam Miron.)

it was the epoch of incredulity…

Ah, Quebec politics and Quebec cannabis: they are seeking to raise the minimum purchase age for cannabis to 21.

it was the season of Light…

Cannabis sales in Massachusetts are lighting up the cash register – while New York may look to cannabis sales to fix up the subway. In neighbouring New Jersey, we got a great update of the latest and greatest from the head of the New Jersey Cannabis Industry Association.

(Also, UTAH has approved medical cannabis?!)

it was the season of Darkness…

Some, but not many, Ontario municipalities are banning retail. A list is here on the site listing all kinds of regulations for Ontario retail cannabis.

it was the spring of hope…

Neal Brothers Food (a Business of Cannabis headquarters favourite…) is joining forces with UP Cannabis. We caught up with Peter Neal to talk “goodness” and cannabis.

it was the winter of despair…

Two alter-dudes put cannabis in the censur-burner. From the story from Spain: “The censer-burner is used the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela to celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord.”
