United Nations Conference On Trade & Development (UNCTAD) Comes To Westminster

RESS RELEASE

EIHA is delighted that Marco Fugazza, an economist and specialist in international trade and labour markets, at the ‘United Nations Conference on Trade & Development’ (UNCTAD) will be presenting the latest publication of the ‘Commodity at Glance’ series on Industrial hemp. Mr Fugazza will attend the next ‘APPG on Industrial Hemp and CBD products’ meeting at Westminster on the 8th of March.

Mr Fugazza and his division led UNCTAD’s highly successful ‘Workshop on Industrial Hemp’ last month in Geneva. This was attended by more than 250 people on-line and on site and we are very excited to see the momentum this event together with UNCTAD’s ‘Special Report on Hemp’ is generating across the sector. EIHA’s team and expert advisors have been working closely with Mr Fugazza and his division for some time and have been continually impressed by the interest and commitment UNCTAD have shown in our sector and the global benefits it offers.

The report emphasises how the plant (Cannabis sativa) is an incredibly versatile, multipurpose crop whereby all parts of the plant from its roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits offer a wealth of medical, industrial, and nutritional applications. It goes on to suggest that a ‘whole plant’ approach could generate considerable benefits to the agricultural community and should be at the ‘core’ of any sectoral development strategy. This approach could facilitate the development of ‘value-chains’ that would drive growth in rural areas and within the manufacturing and processing industries across diverse sectors.

We are extremely grateful to Crispin Blunt, MP and Co-Chair of the ‘APPG on Industrial Hemp and CBD products’ for formally inviting Mr Fugazza to Westminster and very much anticipate a productive session and on-going discussion.

EIHA will be represented by Lorenza Romanese (MD), Jade Proudman (UK Representative) and Tony Reeves (Board Member and UK Representative).
