Quanna: breaking taboos, creating a brand and building a community

Home » Quanna: breaking taboos, creating a brand and building a community

Quanna was born during the pandemic, a time of great challenge for sure, but also a time of reflection and revaluation of what is really important for our families and ourselves.

Taking personal control of our health and well-being, finding natural ways to deal with the stress of lock-down when many relationships were put to severe test.

We set ourselves a mission to break a taboo and lead the discussion around sexual wellness at the same time as creating a brand to help people with sexual wellness – a fundamentally important aspect of their lives; we called it Quanna.

Quanna was founded by myself and Kate Tikhomirova. I am a medical doctor with a specialisation in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Kate is a leading beauty and lifestyle influencer and an LSE graduate. Our friendship began through a shared passion for natural, holistic practices and plant remedies and Quanna is built on this complementary foundation of medicine and marketing.

As with many ideas, ours emerged from lots of conversations that led to a ‘light-bulb’ moment that went something like: “We know there is a real need and with our combined skills, we should be the ones to help!”. With my medical background, I focused on the formulation whilst Kate with her considerable marketing experience concentrated on shaping the face of the brand.

From the beginning, we wanted to create both a product range that delivered real benefits and a ‘Quanna Community’ where we can have an open discussion on sexual health and wellness, share thoughts, challenge taboos and suggest solutions.

Our product development ethos is uncompromising and is based on an intimate knowledge of this most sensitive of regions; what ingredients help and what should be avoided, and CBD was soon identified as a major enhancer of the formulation.

Both Kate and I have a personal experience of CBD. Kate realised the power of CBD after her mum was sick with advanced cancer, and she also discovered many benefits with her own struggles with anxiety and insomnia. For me, it was a logical result of my long-standing interest in combining conventional western medical practices with eastern holistic approaches to diagnose and treat my patients; I am also a member of the Holistic and Complementary Practitioners (AHCP, UK).

There is, of course, considerable evidence of CBD’s ability to enhance our general wellness and topical usage to help with aches and pains has been increasing for some time. However, the ability of CBD to reduce inflammation and increase blood flow has never been properly explored in the context of sexual health – until now.

We are the UK’s first CBD-based sexual wellness company: safe, natural, effective and fun. Curiosity drives innovation, Quriosity drives Quanna.
