Cannabis Stocks Today — Tuesday 28 April 2026: Cresco Labs Leads +19% as US MSOs Rally

    By

The BoC Cannabis Index closed Tuesday with a marginal +0.34% gain that masks a sharp split inside the sector. US multi-state operators ripped higher, with seven names notching gains north of 4%, while every cannabis ETF in the index finished red — a divergence that points to ETF flows rotating out even as cash MSOs caught a bid.

Breadth was negative on a name count: 22 stocks fell against 17 advancers across the 39 constituents that printed today. The pull-down came from Canadian LPs, the four cannabis ETFs (MSOS, MJ, CNBS, YOLO) all losing between 2.4% and 3.7%, and a handful of small-cap blow-ups. The MSO cohort and a steady tobacco/pharma bid (MO +2.73%, JAZZ +1.37%) kept the equal-weighted index in the green.

Cresco Labs led the tape with a 19.00% gain to $1.19, with CRLBF joined by GTBIF (+13.85%), JUSHF (+12.43%) and AAWH (+11.26%) — a coordinated bid across the largest US MSOs that had no immediate news catalyst beyond renewed federal-rescheduling chatter and short covering at depressed levels. On the other side, Ayr Wellness — sub-penny AYRWF trades at $0.0115 — collapsed 17.86% on no immediate news catalyst, with IPW (-8.03%) and IMCC (-7.12%) the next-worst small caps. Among the US multi-state operators, GLASF (+8.95%) and TCNNF (+8.15%) reinforced the cohort move; the ETF print is the curiosity, with MSOS down -3.50% even as its top US-listed underlyings rallied — a mechanical lag that could reverse in tomorrow’s session.

Tobacco and pharma names tied to the broader cannabinoid story were quietly constructive: Altria added 2.73%, Constellation Brands held +0.20%, and Jazz Pharmaceuticals picked up 1.37%. The cannabis REIT/lender complex was mixed, with IIPR +0.45% and AFCG -2.01%.
