While pregnant with my first son, my husband and I attended one of those Saturday afternoon baby safety classes. Almost a decade and half later, I can still remember the earnest facilitator reminding us that baby gates are not a cure all solution for danger, but instead that vigilance was always needed, and that it takes a village to raise a child safely. He also advocated that we encourage others to also attend the class, but I think that was mostly a move rooted in self-preservation.
Today, as we welcome legalization of recreational cannabis, we are also launching age gating on our website and I’m reminded of that baby class, years ago.
Business of Cannabis doesn’t sell cannabis products or accessories. We don’t even write about or review them. As our readers and community know, our content is very much focused on trends, executive profiles and industry insights as opposed to cannabis lifestyle or consumption. Nonetheless, introducing age gating on our content felt like a small but important step in helping to ensure that the roll out of this new regime is not only safe, but also responsible. As with our Big Day, Bright Future campaign, Business of Cannabis is committed to doing all we can to create an industry that is dynamic, sustainable and most of all safe for our children (and all Canadians).
There will be challenges ahead, there is no doubt, and so in the coming months, we will be looking for more ways, both big and small to partner, connect and support the best and highest evolution of the sector. We look forward to all that is to come.
