ROUGH START
HEXO and Tyson 2.0 don’t get the warm welcome they hoped for
HEXO and Tyson 2.0 recently announced a partnership to bring the brand to Canada but wholesalers in Quebec and Alberta don’t “want to be associated with this image.”, per MJBiz Daily.
- Quebec’s monopoly wholesaler, Société Québécoise du cannabis (SQDC), said “Hexo will have the same treatment as any other suppliers and according to our practices. The SQDC will not sell these products because we do not want to be associated with this image,”
- Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC) responded to a request from MJBiz, saying it doesn’t intend to sell Tyson 2.0 products. “We will not be selling this product. Federal legislation prohibits the promotion of a cannabis product through endorsements or depiction of a person,”
Whilst Tyson 2.0 had a successful reception in the US, Canadian companies seem less ready to associate with Tyson’s personal brand or take the risk of federal noncompliance with celebrity affiliations.
