On December 10, 2020, Torkin Manes LLP and Business of Cannabis hosted Cannabis Retail 2021 | A Look Ahead, a day-long event to prepare retailers and would-be retailers on the full scope of cannabis retail in 2021.
During this event, Jaclynn Pehota of the Association of Canadian Cannabis Retailers – ACCRES – joined Jay Rosenthal from Business of Cannabis to talk about the benefits for the cannabis retail sector to think about collective advocacy. Specific to Ontario, Pehota noted the challenges of having private retailers needing to work with the Provincial wholesaler while also having to compete the same Provincial wholesaler – which also serves as a direct to consumer retailer.
