Over the last 5 years, Greece has emerged as a progressive player in the medical cannabis industry on the global stage. The country has already taken significant steps to harness the powerful beneficial effects of medical cannabis in response to emerging scientific evidence and international trends.
The progression in Greece began in 2018 with the adoption of legislation on medical cannabis, which is a significant change in the health sector. Since then, the country has developed a robust framework to regulate and facilitate the production and distribution of finished medical cannabis products, ensuring quality and safety standards.
The Greek government’s decision to create the appropriate legislative framework for medical cannabis was part of a broader initiative to modernize the country’s health system and get aligned with the evolving global medical practices.
Taking advantage of the country’s potential to develop into an international center for the production of finished medical cannabis products, Tikun Olam Europe was founded in 2018, the 1st medical cannabis company licensed by the National Organization for Medicines in Greece.
Based on its heritage, Tikun Olam Europe has a mission to “repair the world”, which is the English translation of the name “Tikun Olam”.
The main advantage of Tikun Olam Europe is the direct access to the know-how of Tikun Olam Israel, the company that defined the market of medical cannabis worldwide starting its activity in 2005 in Israel and in the course of time expanded with production units in the USA, Canada, Asia (Israel) and Europe (based in Greece).
With the total investment reaching €47m, Tikun Olam Europe has created in an area of 56,000m2 in Corinth, the largest production unit in Europe in the sector, with a vertically integrated production process and R&D department, in state-of-the-art facilities and state-of-the-art equipment.
Fully harmonized with the requirements of the Greek legislation on the cultivation and processing of cannabis, Tikun Olam Europe focuses on the creation of finished medical cannabis products that are produced in an EU-GMP environment, applying strict control standards and procedures that ensure high quality and safety.
Employing 100+ employees, since the beginning of 2022, Tikun Olam Europe, develops and markets prescription finished medical cannabis products and CBD food supplements (Τikun CBD & Lifelab CBD), the distribution and promotion of which is made through strategic partnerships with two renowned pharmaceutical companies in Greece, PHARMASERVE HELLAS and LAVIPHARM.
