The legalisation of cannabis in Germany on 1 April 2024 was intended to mark a paradigm shift in drug policy.
It was the goal of the previous German coalition government to protect the health of patients and consumers by legalising cannabis, ensuring better protection of minors and diversion from black market trade thanks to legal alternatives.
The number of both applications and licences granted for cannabis social clubs in Germany has continued to grow at pace throughout September, but growth has slowed month-on-month.
Applications for Germany’s recently legalised cannabis cultivation associations, or ‘social clubs’, have increased significantly over the last month.
