The elevated demand for cannabis seen in March in response to the COVID-19 pandemic was maintained in April, according to new data from Statistics Canada.
Monthly sales in April reached C$180 million. While total sales were down slightly from March, national average daily sales saw a 3% rise.
Sales performance varied across individual provinces, with Quebec seeing a 13% month-on-month uptick in average daily sales, while Ontario saw a 7% decrease. PEI’s sales suffered greatly in April as retail storefronts were closed as part of the province’s coronavirus mitigation measures.
