The Edibles Cometh Edition

What Chuck Rifici called the second wave of legalization is coming – and (perhaps) the first draft of regulations for edibles might be viewable before the holidays!

In a well-timed announcement, Newstrike/UP Cannabis announced a joint venture with Neal Brothers. Check back later this week for a BofC exclusive interview on this announcement.

BofC made some big news of our own last week with our friends at CivilizedRead all about it.

Not only that, but we were on the red carpet at last week’s Lift & Co. Canadian Cannabis Awards. Check out the line up of interviews from Thursday night’s shindig.

Two FOBOC (Friends of BofC) stories this week…

The Star featured a story about seniors and cannabis. (See our Green + Silver from October) The story included a profile of Ash Basu – follow him @BasuAshis

The second is an amazing one: CFAMM’s James O’Hara paid for Senator Paula Simons’ meal at the Ottawa Airport. But the story, as told by @Paulatics Twitter feed, is a gem.

Cannabis supply is still tight around the country, meaning those in need of it (National Access Cannabis and others) are on watch 24/7 to grab some.

Last week there was news from Massachusetts, this week it is New Jersey. Legalization is coming there fast. For those that follow such things closely, Ample Organics CEO John Prentice and BofC’s Jay Rosenthal shared their thought about a mid-year visit to New Jersey. As for those 2 retail locations in Massachusetts, traffic is the biggest concern so far.

And not a moment too soon in New Jersey, because the US Congress is considering the Farm Bill, complete with hemp!

Not to be outdone by New Jersey, South Korea is getting into the cannabis mix.

For those with young people at home, Shawn Mendes is someone you may know well. Well, it turns out he likes weed as much as you do.

Cannabis accelerator Leaf Forward announced their newest class of companies they are looking to help grow.

There’s a new lobby group in Canada pushing for medical cannabis distribution through pharmacies. In what is certainly not coincidental timing, Shoppers Drug Mart is close to distributing medical cannabis by mail.

Finally, here’s something you don’t see everyday – press release from an illegal business (h/t David Brown):
