Under the Narcotics Act (SMG), AGES is the only entity permitted to cultivate cannabis, growing flower for export to Germany where it is processed into dronabinol, some of which is re-imported.
Dronabinol oils and capsules have been available since 2004 and must be prescribed by a senior physician under a strict approval process, typically for spasticity, MS and other nervous disorders, treatment-resistant chronic pain, or appetite loss and nausea in cancer and AIDS.
