Research bill was the ‘most meaningful’ cannabis progress in 2022

2022 IN REVIEW

Research bill was the ‘most meaningful’ cannabis progress in 2022

Benzinga speaks to industry experts to explore some of the most important tailwinds in 2022 that affected the industry, and that will lay strong foundations in the years to come. The publication highlights that most experts have cited President Biden’s signature on the cannabis research bill among the most important.

Experts discuss cannabis scheduling, new markets, maturation, long-term opportunities, M&As and mainstream strategies.

Tim Seymour, portfolio manager of Amplify Seymour Cannabis ETFs CNBS told the publication: “The research bill was the most meaningful cannabis regulatory progress point in 2022. It is unanimous, bi-partisan and an opportunity to change the science conversation.”

NOVA SCOTIA

Creso Pharma launches new products in Canada

Following a rigorous evaluation by NSLC of more than 1,200 submissions, 75 new listings have been included in the province. Mernova received seven listings, doubling its total listings in the province to 14 SKUs.

CEO and managing director William Lay said: “Nova Scotia has always served as a barometer for the company and to have an additional seven products accepted by the NSLC is a major achievement.”

MISSED DEADLINES

Spain misses their target for ambitious medical cannabis rollout

BusinessCann reports that Spain’s ambitious plans to see the regulation and distribution of medical cannabis rolled out across the country by the end of 2022 appear to have been delayed.

The deadline of December 27, 2022 has come and gone, and the Spanish government has not revealed the reasons behind the delay, and when the legislation could eventually be enacted.

The publication highlights that the race against the clock is now on as the conservative People’s Party are now ahead in the polls, with speculation it may need the support of the far-right Vox party to form a government. Both parties voted against the medical cannabis bill in June 2022.
