Leafly report finds legal cannabis is America’s 6th biggest cash crop
Cannabis discovery marketplace Leafly Holdings has released its Cannabis Harvest Report.
The report provides an analysis of the last year of cannabis farming in the U.S., looking at adult-use cannabis crop licensing, production, and value.
The report has revealed a number of findings, including:
- 554 more metric tons of adult-use cannabis was grown in 2022 compared to 2021. – Prices have hit historic lows.
- Cannabis is the number one cash crop in three states.
- Colorado wholesale prices hit an all-time low in July.
- Regulators California do not report how much their licensees are growing.
Leafly said of the report: “Our findings suggest Congress needs to do the will of 68% of voters and send cannabis reform bills to President Biden this year.”

What sent cannabis stocks soaring on Monday?
Cannabis stocks were on fire Monday after another sign that the United States might be getting closer to easing banking rules for legalized cannabis, reports The Motley Fool.
Shares of Tilray Brands were 12.4% higher, Canopy Growth was up 18.3% and Aurora Cannabis stock was up 11.7%.
The publication highlights some of the key driving factors of the growth, including:
- The Senate majority leader said he was working with members of both parties on new banking rules.
- New legislation is “getting very close” to being passed.
- The legislation would open up the market to legal businesses.
The Motley Fool wrote: “It’s not surprising to see the stocks jump today after the Senate majority leader signaled progress might be imminent, at least on the associated banking rules.”
