A 4/20 Like None Other

As the cannabis community celebrates a 4/20 like none other, we are still catching our breath from our weekly Cannabis + Technology | Retail Tech presented by LeafLink event.

If you missed any of the programming, you can watch the live stream recordings on cannabisandtech.ca.

It was also a week when cannabis consumers got into the swing of ordering online, picking up curbside or getting cannabis delivered to their door, many for the first time (legally). And it seems that Seth Rogen has a direct dial to his local dispensary…

Because of the rapidly shifting retail, policy and regulatory landscape, we look forward to welcoming Nathan Mison, the Vice President for Government and Stakeholder Relations from Fire & Flower to our Lunch+Learn this Friday. Join us.

Read on…

Seth Rogen is smoking ‘ungodly’ amounts of cannabis during social distancing. At least, that’s how he described it to Jimmy Kimel.

Speaking of ungodly amounts of cannabis – that is how much Ontario cannabis buyers are buying from the Ontario Cannabis Store. 600 percent more than normal, according to the OCS. Want more details, check out our Lunch+Learn with Cheri Mara, the Chief Commercial Officer of the Ontario Cannabis Store from last Monday.

Two ends of the industry reported last week. On the MedMen side of the equation, some investors are looking to go after the executives’ homes to get their money back. On the Aphria side of the equation, the MJBizCon story suggests Aphria is now an industry leader with their quarterly financial reports showing profitability. It isn’t just Aphria that had a good quarter, Valens is showing strong signs too – but warning of COVID-19 impacts down the line.

As we head further into the spring, more and more outdoor grows have been approved in Canada – and social distancing may not impact companies’ abilities to get that crop in the ground and harvested in the fall.

You may have forgotten that the government in Ontario is/was seeking input about consumption lounges. One local public health agency (Ottawa) doesn’t want any of it, suggesting that we don’t know enough about the effects/impacts of cannabis use – while ignoring the effects/impacts of alcohol…

Enjoy 4/20 safely + at a distance everybody.
